It's been a while, guys !

I've been desperately trying to post on these boards, but it just seems froggies are pretty despised around here: no way to post, stupid script kept telling me I was unauthorized. Pah ! Nobody gets between me and the Horde lest they feel my axe !

I still can't access the vault, but I guess that's how things are. This is a definite improvement.

So, how are things going ?
I'm thinking about Shadowbane, since I'm currently playing DAOC (I'll get trampled over by my girlfriend, but she's light as a feather so that's no big deal). However, I'm a bit afraid that ugly graphics and ugly gameplay aren't what WP promised us.

Besides, is there any way french people can play, since Swing! just went *poof* ?

And finally, what do you guys think of Shadowbane ? Worth it... or not ?

SB is alright and geared toward a certain player base. Graphics are very low end compared to games of the day. The lag monster is always around, which is to be expected since the game was just released. SB is totally geared towards guild v. guild or nation v. nation battles. Many bugs. Very little rp'ing on servers that were dedicated to it. I did like the character creation. No dungeons to crawl in or quests to challenge. SWG and Planetside will own this game. I'm currently in the Planetside beta and it rocks. I'd really like to see this guild get into it and build up squad tactics.

Gfx aren't that bad unless your one of the ppl who are running out whenever a brandnew 60-70$ FPS comes out every week


It lives up to the politics ect part, ATM large scale battles are lag fests and not worth the time, In the long run there will be a few dedicated players and they will have fun but after a month or 2 more 1 guild or another will dominate the server and there goes the action


My opinion, if you get it get it now but if your still having loads of fun in EQ/DAoC your prolly better staying there

its already losing charm for me cause i hate to have to pharm, repair, pharm, die, die, repair

there isn't really much social interaction either cause of crappy chat set up (compareing to eq/daoc)

From what I've seen in beta and what I read here...

- it's all about farming and not dieing while raising your char
- one mistake in your char conception and your good for a re-roll (not much of a prob if you're lvl 5-)
- you can't survive if you're not in group
- you can't trust anyone, not even your guildmates, which really suck. SB seems to be populated by real freaks to whom the concept of "loyalty" is something of a puzzle
- chat system is a bit odd at the beginning, but you can adapt it at your wish and make loads of windows dedicated to this or that channel, or even both.
- moving is a puzzler for many people (right click -> char going over there) but I think you just have to get the hang of it
- gfx actually look good. But I think UO in 2D looks great, so I ain't a good judge :P
- you can play a fury, which is great char IMO (who said "unbalanced" ?) :D

I love SB, graphics are fine for me and it is geared towards GvG and only groups and such, but that is fine for me sense I play mmorpg to talk to people and such. Not much RP around, but that is what is expected with everyone fouced on leveling. Right now we are focused on farming cash because our city is new and we need the cash to build all the cool stuff.:D PvP is a blast. They did a great job balancing it. It can get laggy sometimes but generally it still playable. There is almost never a dull moment on the game with The Frost horde against all the "super powers" of the server. We are doing quite well for ourselves though and have managed to throw them off every time.

I don't like about Shadowbane that the world is so empty and dull. There are no landmarks at all and everywhere I run is just the same stupid snow. Also, I really dislike having to restart a character simply because you put points into a skill that seemed useful but turned out to be useless.

Heya, Gren. :) Good to see you around. I have preserved your name in one of my slots, thing is that I cancelled my subscription which means my account will be valid untill 6th of may, after that I wont be able to log in anymore. I will release your name before that happens.

I myself do not really like the game for a myriad of reasons, Haleks named a few that I agree with. Dont like the graphics, and I dont like the fact that it is group-only. No solo-ing in this game. It's also very, *very* competitive (that should suit you :) ) which could mean nice victories, but also utter defeats, and starting over again. Starting over again means more gold-farming....... I am not sure how a UO veteran would like the fact that he will be bashing mobs for 80% of the time to get the gold to PvP/GvG.

Anyway, the Horde will be playing in many games to come, two of which Tulianna mentioned, PLanetside and SWG.

sb's beta disgusted me, and from what i've read since it's release... it aint really better ...

i guess their dev team is too unexperimented...

too much lag, no features in the game, to much gold farming & camping....

graphics sux but you need a damn computer to run it...

and the fact that if you spent a full week to make a lvl 30 char, and u notice that you made some mistakes in the points you spent in... you have to reroll just plainly sucks...

thus, playing UO a little bit... waiting for darkfallonline :)

well i dont mind not haveing graphix aslong as they can cut alot of lagg out. well they didnt do that.

they went through beta but their patching server doesnt like to work for alot of people, namely me. o ya and i think i was billed for 3 month payments twice so far(have to go verafy).

but i love the fact of fast lvling eventhough you have to farm 24/7 to get a city working. dont like the fact there is no soloing in the game either. more soloing in EQ because atleast 2 classes could do it.

Well here you need to look for solo PvP classes :p Thiefs and Assassins are good at it.

Also you can farm nicely with a Wizard, so I heard.
